Hand-Painted SEA Signage (5,000 photos)

Find a handwritten or hand-painted sign, photograph it straight on; printed signs, unreadable scrawl and shots with people in frame are sent back. Collection runs only in 11 Southeast Asian countries, 50 per contributor at most. Expect handwriting on walls, boards, cardboard and metal, in marker, chalk and paint, at street sizes and in street light, in the region's languages and often two on one board. No transcriptions are included. Hand-painted market boards and stall signage are everywhere in Southeast Asia and almost absent from handwriting and scene-text datasets, built on printed signs or handwriting on paper. The hard case in regional scene text: irregular lettering no synthetic font pipeline produces and print-trained OCR reads poorly.
