The sign is the main subject, photographed close enough that the letters are sharp, with no identifiable people in frame; distant smudges and shots with faces are sent back. The task is open only in 11 Southeast Asian countries, so expect what those streets hold: Indonesian, Malay and Filipino lettering first, Chinese and Tamil shop signs in Malaysia, Thai and Burmese where the task runs there, two or three languages on one board, hand-painted names, stenciled warnings and monsoon weathering. No transcriptions or polygons are included. Scene-text benchmarks cover English and Chinese well and Southeast Asian languages thinly; on SEA-Vision (arXiv 2603.15409) a current VLM reads Filipino, Thai and Vietnamese scene text at well under half its English accuracy.
