RAW
Prop the phone to see counter, stove and hands, record from first ingredient to plated food, cooking as you normally would. Edited footage, hands out of frame, staged kitchens and unfamiliar recipes are rejected. Recruitment is confined to 11 Southeast Asian countries, one clip of 5 to 10 minutes per contributor. Kitchens are the most studied manipulation setting in robotics, yet EPIC-KITCHENS was recorded in four cities in Europe and North America, and Ego4D holds little Southeast Asian home cooking; wok tossing, pounding in a mortar, cooking over charcoal, wrapping in banana leaf and judging heat by sound are rare in both, and a household robot sold in Manila meets them early.
